Club Car
Club Car showed off its XRT 1550 utility vehicle series, powered by a Kubota 20hp diesel or Kawasaki 23hp engine. It comes with automatic all wheel drive, 4 wheel disk brakes, 6061 aluminum alloy frame, tilt steering, bench or bucket seats and an array of attachments. They also have moved the switch for the electric dump box on the Turf II to the dash.
Ferris is offering a propane powered Z mower for 2009. It’s available with either a 61” or 72” deck. It is powered by an 896cc Briggs big block V-twin fed by 2 30gal. propane tanks. Ferris estimates an 8-10hr. run time before it needs refueling. It has a HyproGear hydrostatic transmission and Parker wheel motors. Top speed is 12mph.
Technology that was developed 20 years ago in the UK has been resurrected by Scott Cybulski CGCS, a superintendent on the East Coast. It works like a vacuum cleaner for standing water. It does what it says and does it well…
Honda Engines
Honda introduced an all new V-Twin engine line for 2009. Sporting a “Hemi”combustion chamber and 2 barrel carb, the engines meet the EPA emissions regulations for 2011 without the use of a catalyst. The cylinder and head are incorporated in to one unit, reminiscent of the OMC engines in early Cushmans. Fuel economy is on par with similar sized EFI engines. The 20-23hp models come in both horizontal and vertical configuration.
If you feel the need for speed in the stealth mode, and don’t have to ask “How much?” this is for you. A Shelby GT 500 golf car. 18hp AC motor, 650 Amp Controller; can be set to 45mph. Price = $16K; the looks you will get = priceless.
The guys who make the popular stand-alone greensroller now have a roll & spike version for triplex heads. Each unit comes with 3 rollers and a spiker reel.
They now have parts as well as complete DPA reels for Toro’s 5010 fairway series. You should see them in the new catalog coming out this Spring. They also have trailers for their walkers.
They introduced the Verti-CoreII , as well as the Easy-Core 116; both work at speeds up to 3.5mph. They now have turf guards for the various tines in stock.
Now you can ride your bike to the course and take your clubs with you. The hitch fits on the frame under the seat…
