BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (April 29, 2009) – The Toro Company recently received a contract award from the Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Command (FMWRC) to provide golf course maintenance equipment and service support to help maintain more than 50 golf facilities at Army installations worldwide. The contract broadens Toro’s relationship with the U.S. Army and strengthens its position in government segments.

“We’re extremely pleased to partner with the U.S. Army in helping to create great course conditions for Armed Forces and their families to enjoy around the globe,” said Michael Happe, vice president of Toro’s Commercial Business. “These facilities provide an environment for individuals and families to come together and take pleasure in a wonderful game for all ages. We’re excited to contribute to that experience and are dedicated to ensuring our team provides the highest quality turf equipment products and service.”

Established in 1984, the Army’s FMWRC provides guidance and oversight for Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR) programs. The purpose of MWR is to provide comfort, pleasure, recreational activities, and physical and mental improvement opportunities to members of the Armed Forces and their families. The Army operates golf facilities on installations in the United States, Germany, Puerto Rico, Japan and Korea – with approximately 2 million rounds of golf played on its courses each year.
