I received this from Terry Buchen, CGCS and he said it would be okay to post it. Pretty interesting opportunity for an adventure..

I am searching for a good candidate for a head mechanics position here in Anguilla, British West Indies. If you know any potential candidates or guys ready to make the next move, please email me at erins@covebayproperties.com . I am looking for a young and energetic mechanic that wants to make the next move to a head mechanics position. The equipment fleet is Toro and Club Car. The course was operated previously by Troon Golf, formerly known as Temenos Anguilla and shut down last year. The new operators and managers want the golf course restored to its prior conditions after sitting for a year with no maintenance. I am need of some talented individual who would like to work in the islands and to help restore this course to its former glory.

Wife says no but having spent some time in the islands this would be a great adventure! I'm a bit dismayed at the age requirements also, as somebody with a mature atitude and skills in place would be perfect for this opportunity. Maybe has something to do with perceived energy level.

Island living isn't for everyone and there are some real hurdles for people with Type A personalities but if you're adventuous and preferably single (or about to be!) this would be fun.

Ed S. would probably be the most insightful on these situations. Ed, maybe some moonlighting, just around the corner for you!

I saw this and i am a scuba diver and single and thought wow, this could be fun, but kindof hesitant because of "Energy Level", i'm 48 and i thinnk they want someone out there helping on the course also.

Back in the early 90's I was working on a course in Florida and got a job offer in Jamaica. I did some research and found out they don't like outsiders coming in and taking their jobs and some people just come up missing. I hope that problem doesn't exist anymore, it might be hard to fill the position if that's the case.

Anguilla is a physically beautiful area... politically some islands are like neighborhoods in a sense.
Developing an island mentality is sometimes a real hurdle and also hard to re-adjust after being on "the rock" for any extended periods.

If you're out sailing heading north and tack east for an extended run your next stop is a quaint little island named Africa!
Also, first stop for tropical weather!

Yup!
And yes, it is hard to go back after living the island life.......

Anguilla is tiny, but St Martin is a 20 minute ferry ride away.

*Big Edit* too much information....-Ed

Steve, there is always a price to get out of a lease. If you find the right employer they will cover that cost for you. That's providing you really want to relocate, its also associated with the moving expense. Sometimes it's very well worth the move and change. Also we see many jobs that have low salary postings, call anyways and talk with them and tell them what you need, and what it will take for you to join their team. In most cases they will meet you somewhere in the middle and can turn out to be a really great deal.

Comments:This 7,063-yard championship course was designed by golf legend Greg Norman and first opened in 2006. It offers dramatic elevation changes, water features on 13 holes and, with the help of Cap Juluca’s brand of hospitality this season, guests can enjoy one of the finest Caribbean golf experiences.Temenos Golf Course offers a Caribbean golf experience where sand, wind and water blend seamlessly with Anguilla's natural environment to present a golfer's paradise. Some of its signature holes include:

Players being greeted by a spectacular vista of St. Maarten and the Caribbean Sea at the tee box of the 390-yard starting hole. The fairway descends over 40-feet to a narrow, two-tiered green sitting precariously on the edge of a saltwater lagoon. Robb Report called this first hole, "The Caribbean's answer to the 18th at Pebble Beach."
Large sand dunes on the left and a saltwater pond on the right framing the perilous drive on the 440-yard 16th hole that plays dead into the trade winds and ends with an elevated green surrounded by water and protected by deep bunkers.
The drive for the finishing hole carrying the edge of the mangrove thicket in a vast stretch of saltmarsh that winds through eight of the course holes. The narrowing fairway ascends forty feet through rugged terrain to a narrow green carved out of the native shrub.

The equipment manager reports to the golf course superintendent and oversees a comprehensive preventive maintenance program. This program includes the repair of failing equipment, keeping records of parts and labor needed to maintain each piece of equipment, and placing orders for parts and supplies needed for equipment or service. The equipment manager properly communicates any needs or problems relating to the maintenance or repair of equipment to the superintendent and/or the assistant superintendent, and schedules and directs the work assignments of the assistant equipment manager. The equipment manager places safety as a top priority and is responsible for maintaining a clean service area and maintenance building.
